Well i've been keeping the cats in of late, especially Tex, and it's driving him bananas!! But in a majority "Dog" & "Bunny" neighbourhood, a wandering cat is not the most welcoming thing. A few times the cat has come home worse for wear.. I think he's been hit or kicked by one of the neighbours, or one of the dogs has had a go at them.
So ive invested in a couple of enclosures and a cat run, so that the cats can have some outside time, fresh air and all that. but I know that they aren't wandering all over the neighbourhood.

When I went out early this morning to erect the enclosures and the run, a gorgeous sight drifted over the top of the house, and onwards
till it was out of sight.

Ho Hum

Yes well i know it's been a while since my last entry, but well nothing has happened here really.
Well nothing worth printing and letting people know about that is.
Unemployed yet again ho humm.

The factory i worked for let us go in October last year.
They shifted to Melbourne, as the profit margin for them was better not having to truck transport stuff
2hrs to the docks for export etc I guess.

Meanwhile it left 130 of us unemployed here. Although since
then , there has been pretty much about that many put out of work each month at different places
around the town, as the recession really digs in. I think we already had almost the highest if not the
highest unemployment in the state, now we've most definitely tipped the scales

The government run social services places are just shocking, so much bloody red tape,
and f@rt@r$ing about it's a wonder anything works. Honestly if Joe Bloggs Normal ran a
business like the government runs their places Oi Vey!

I went in to apply for unemployment
payments. I was given a piece of paper and told to go home and ring this number...
(( Uh im standing here in person why can't you get those details now ...))
Anyway go home do all that, to get the Unemployment Payment you also have to enrol with a
Job Network, who are supposedly there to help you get a job, they do diddly squat ( this is my 3rd time
on payments) Wouldn't you know it the Job Network I selected, will be defunked at the end of May or June,
as they didn't get enough people jobs.

So not only do i have to compete the other unemployed, but the new unemployed job network people,
taking jobs as well Aiieee

Finally get my Unemployment payments interview, where you have to provide all your details.
bank details , current account totals, investments , birth certs, medicare numbers , rent details,
assets details blah blah blah. Which on their piece of paper is supposedly going to take 15minutes of your time.
Meanwhile and hour and a half later, you finally get out of their. only to find that you have been given
a parking ticket... Luckily this time i had not.

Previous times, submitting you payment for was just a case of going in , and dropping the form into
a box. Now you have to stand in the incredible longgggg line, and wait to see a real person , so they can enter
the details of your form. So not to self allow hour and a half to submit form as well each fortnight.

Part 1.

This is more a doesn't it piss you off when this happens type rant.

I bought a new desk top lamp for my computer desk, get it home find out it needs a 40w globe. of course every globe i have in the house is 60 or 75w. So jump back in the car go to the supermarket. takes me another 5 minutes to find the aisle that has the light globes in it.

Stand there staring at the globes they all have the screw in connection, I need the other sort.

So of course they have about 2 hangers of those sort of connections, and they are those energy savers. I figure okay ill do my little bit of saving the planet today.

So i buy it, get it home it still wont fit, cause it's got this great hulking wide white base that doesn't fit any light fitting in the house , let alone the desk top lamp i bought it for.

Well that was $10 dollars well spent not, $5 bucks worth of petrol up in fumes, and still no *^&#)*&^ Light

Rantingly Yours
Nufmeister

Part 2.

Now back to the regularly scheduled Ranting...

You wouldn't believe it but the light globe saga continues.

Mum nipped out this morning to get the weekend newspapers, and thought
she'd cheer me up by getting a light globe. She gets home and says i got you
light globe for the lamp and then swears.... it's the screw in type, and this one
needs the bayonet style one...

Ohh you have got to be kidding me dont you.

So in a last ditch effort went to yet another place got two 40w bayonet styled
light globes 75cents each....

So 16 something dollars, 3 shopping trips and a 1/4 tank of petrol later,
I finally have a desk lamp that works. ( Which i half expected to be dodgy
and not work as well )

~phew~ thank goodness that is over with
It's Tuesday the 10th of February here in Australia, after our fourth day of fires the death toll now stands at 181 people dead (and on the increase), 750 houses raised , 5000+ Homeless , Countless people still missing.

I must admit i spent yesterday evening just crying, just the scale and scope of it is quite overwhelming.

Both Bendigo and Redesdale fires have been contained.
So we ended up with a tonne of smoke and ash, and nothing else thank goodness. Unfortunately a lady mum knows from the Lympodema group , wasn't so lucky her house was raised to the ground. The fire was so eractic, jumping from place to place, often being 50 to 100 metres apart. Leaving a wooden house unscathed and burning down a stone/brick house right next door.
Talk about the perfect storm... 12 years of drought ,2 weeks of extreme heat wave culminating in the hottest day on tecord on the friday, ferociously strong winds

www.bendigoadvertiser.com.au/slideshowplayer.aspx

My own pictures at home of the Sunday Evening, the rain teasing us by raining up above the rooftops but vapourising right there...

<lj-embed id="15" /></div>

The have it within containment lines now, but as one of the blurbys says there is still fire burning, they have 40 fire trucks and some 200 firefighting personal on scene. Pretty much most of the available vehicles from all the different suburbs fire stations, and some have com in from other town further north of us.
It was 48 vehicles earlier, so i'd say they are slowly getting on top of it.

There have been helicopters and planes going over at random times this morning, obviously keeping the ground crews up to date as well.

Awake all night last night, listening to the emergency radio broadcast, just in case we had to get out of their in a hurry. The power went out a couple of times, i had heard they would have to cut of oertian areas out here, both Power and Gas, to prevent explosions etcetc.

The CFA(Country Fire Authority) has said that there is at least one arsonist out there re-lighting fires What sorta of a Whack job would you have to be honestly!!!

The cars were covered in a thin veil of dust/ash this morning

We still have the bathtub and buckets filled with water, then hose hooked up to the front tap, bags packed and in the car. Unfortunately I kind of blew it up EWPS, the mercury went all the way to the end of the glass,
and never went back down again. Even after putting it in the fridge.
To add insult to injury yesterday, the power got cut off for about an hour and a half.
Right at the hottest part of the day as well..

I rang powercor ( the peeps that run the power company ) that al the others buy from
Who said due to government regulations they had to cut the power, but said it'd be restored
in about 2hours time. Apparently they black out certian areas at a time. Funny how it alwasy seem to be
the same certian areas. Last time when we had a brown out, out place was hit but the neighbours either side
were fine.

Saw on the news last night that some peole in i think a melbourne suburb, ones side of the street,
had no power. The other side of the street you could hear the hum of the A/C Wouldn't you be
majorly pissed off.

No doubt there will be more power outages today, were supposed to get to 44.c ( and that and in the shae measure )
Ive found its usually about 2 or 3 above that her , when i chuck a temp gaue out the back door.

Impressionist paintings are balanced, use colored shadows, use pure color, broken brushstrokes, thick paint, and scenes from everyday life or nature.

People that like Impressionist paintings may not alway be what is deemed socially acceptable. They tend to move on their own path without always worrying that it may be offensive to others. They value friendships but because they also value honesty tend to have a few really good friends. They do not, however, like people that are rude and do not appreciate the ideas of others. They are secure enough in themselves that they can listen to the ideas of other people without it affecting their own final decisions. The world for them is not black and white but more in shades of grey and muted colors. They like things to be aestically pleasing, not stark and sharp. There are many ways to view things, and the impresssionist personality views the world from many different aspects. They enjoy life and try to keep a realistic viewpoint of things, but are not very open to new experiences. If they are content in their live they will be more than likely pleased to keep things just the way they are.

Take What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test at HelloQuizzy

Mum went around to the local hardware store to look at some blinds for outdoors, she came back out to the car, to find fluid leaking out of the front. got a few bottles of water to top up the engine coolant container, and drove it to her mechanics. The radiator has a crack right across the top of it, which is between 600-1000 to replace. So that will be a couple of thousand dollars in two days! 2 ultra sounds, x-rays, washing machine and car ... *ARRRGGGHHH!!!* Why do these things always happen at this time of year?? Can kiss goodbye to Christmas and well anything else that involved money for months to come Gah!
Well went to hospital at 3:30, didn't have to wait long.
Got taken down to cubicles, and had to change into hospital gown.
Then taken to another room to have another ultra sound done,
they then brought in another doctor, who does the actual injection.
He puts the needle in and then looks at the ultra sound screen,
to make sure he's injecting into the right place. it felt like lead
going in, could feel it as he emptied the needles container into my arm.
I was thinking you got a local anesthetic b4 hand they do it at same time,
so you really don't feel much apart from, the feeling of the other fluid slowly
making its way around. I got out at 4 ( when my appointment was actually scheduled for.

It's almost 7pm now, and the local has pretty much worn off, yeah so
not so much feeling the happy happy joy joy now *ow*

In other news, looks like after the washing machines death knell 12 months ago,
it's finally died outright n totally. So looks like a new washing machine will be on our horizon

Thanks Belle for the Birthday card in the post, yours was the very first to arrive :D
Thanks to Kaz and Ginny for the e-card and best wishes.
Sarah and Kim came over for the weekend as well, which was cool.
Scored well, some clothes, sneaky sound system cd, dvd, pillows etc, did alright for "old cat lady" in the making :)

In other news I go to hospital 4pm this afternoon to have the cortisone shot into my shoulder.
I've pretty much taken this week off, well as you'll see below wouldn't have had much work anyways. Dependent on how the shoulder pans out, i may have already worked my last day.

We were given notice at work also, it finishes up December 5th, but they have already cut us back to one day on and a day on call ( well that's night shift anyways ), a very NON subtle way of making people leave quicker. They say one thing and do the other.

p,s, thanks candi n breen ( and I would be how old in 2099... obviously to many addatives and preservatives :P )
